R&D: The israeli Center for absorption in science helps immigrant scientists

The israeli Center for absorption in science helps immigrant scientists and Israel Science Info is a media partnership of this campaign. Immigrant and returning resident scientists can obtain assistance in their absorption in research and development from the Israeli Center for Absorption in Science, whose goals include:

  • To facilitate the absorption of the immigrant or returning resident scientist into the R&D system and academic research institutions in Israel.
  • To advise and guide scientists looking for work in Israel.
  • To help businesses and academic institutions in the market to absorb immigrant and returning Israeli scientists.
  • To encourage the expansion of the R&D system in Israel while using the knowledge and experience that these scientists bring with them.
  • To participate with other government facilities in determining the policies concerning scientific personnel development in Israel.

An immigrant or returning resident who fulfills one of the following requirements:

A. Degree: Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Work Experience: worked in research and development for at least three of the five years prior to immigration to Israel.
Publications: published at least three scientific publications, or registered three patents in his name.
B. Degree: M.Sc. or equivalent degree.
Work Experience: worked in research and development for at least 4 of the 6 years prior to immigration.
Publications: published at least three scientific publications, or registered three patents in his name.
C. Degree: M.Sc. or equivalent degree.
Work Experience: worked in research and development for at least 4 of the 6 years prior to immigration.
Publications: scientists who do not  have any publications, or have no patents registered in their name – will only be eligible as candidates for assistance in R&D in industry.
D. Degree: M.Sc. or equivalent degree up to the age of 32.
Work Experience: no experience in research and/or development.  Young scientist, as previously mentioned, who will be absorbed in a R&D position in the business sector, will be entitled to one years assistance in industry.
E. Degree: M.Sc. or equivalent degree up to the age of 37 who will be accepted as a research student in one of the universities.
Comment: in cases of doubt concerning an equivalent degree, the Department for Evaluation of Diplomas of the Ministry of Education will determine the validity of degrees awarded by institutions of higher education abroad.
