Moovit, the world’s leading local transit app, is today releasing Version 4.8.6 on Android with a powerful and personalized new feature, Best Way Today. This upgrade to the app enables Moovit users to make more valuable use of their time by automatically providing the most updated routes for users who typically travel the same route between favorite locations.
According to a 2015 Moovit user survey, 44% of public transit riders considered not knowing when their bus or train would arrive as their biggest frustration with public transportation prior to using Moovit (a figure which drops to just 13% after respondents began using Moovit), whereas after beginning to use Moovit, their main source of frustration with public transit was line delays. Transit delays cannot be avoided, but now, Best Way Today automatically finds the best way for users to avoid disruptions on their commute.
A large percentage of users ride the same route every day, but many aren’t aware that there are often multiple ways of getting from their home to work and back. And because of variables like unusual traffic, subway strikes, and street closures due to construction, today’s best route to work may be different than tomorrow’s. Best Way Today allows Moovit users to set their favorite locations, like their home or work, as well as their typical departure and arrival times to and from each location, and get the best route for their commute each day based on the day’s current conditions. With Best Way Today, Moovit users can receive a notification each day prior to their usual departure time from home, work or any other favorite location, letting them know exactly which route to take, without even having to open the app.
In addition to Best Way Today, the new version also incorporates an update to favorite lines and stations; now, when users are within a close proximity to their preferred station on their favorite line, they will receive a notification about when the next bus is arriving.
