First Joint MASHAV-TICA Regional Workshop: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand

The workshop on “Greenhouse Crop Production and Management” for participants from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand is the first joint Israeli-Thai activity following the agreement for trilateral cooperation signed between the two countries.

The Memorandum of Understanding on Development Cooperation Program signed in Jerusalem on September 2014, establishes a framework for development cooperation between Israel and Thailand and for trilateral cooperation with Cambodia, Laos PDR and Myanmar in the areas of agriculture and human resource development. The implementing parties are Thailand’s International Development Cooperation Agency (TICA) and MASHAV.  The 2-weeks workshop took place at the premises of the Israeli Agricultural Technology Complex located in Kasetsart University near Bangkok, and counted with the participation of 24 professionals from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand (Feb. 1-14).

The workshop, jointly conducted by Dr. Ityel Eviatar, from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Faculty of Agriculture, Israel, and Dr. Thammasak Thongket, from Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Agriculture, Thailand, combined theory and practice on greenhouse crop production and management including adaptation to the local conditions of Southeast Asian countries.
