RAD’s Service Assured Access Solutions Deployed in French Polynesia

OPT (Office des Postes et Télécommunications), the incumbent operator in French Polynesia (a former affiliate of Orange), has chosen RAD’s Service Assured Access (SAA) solutions to deliver 3G and 4G mobile backhaul and leased lines for businesses over Carrier Ethernet.

RAD’s SAA solutions enable mobile, business and wholesale service providers to quickly roll out premium services. Based on a rich set of tools, they provide deep end-to-end-visibility with optimal user quality of experience (QoE) to ensure customer satisfaction, and in that way simplify operations, reduce costs and prevent customer churn.

“For telecom operators, SAA is the key to providing new resilient, always-on services that generate new revenue streams and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO),” notes Ulik Broida, RAD’s Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. “Moreover, SAA provides consistent service experience over any infrastructure.”

The SAA solutions deployed by OPT are based on RAD’s ETX family of Carrier Ethernet demarcation and aggregation devices.  CE 2.0-certified, they feature multi-CoS service level agreement (SLA) management with performance monitoring and diagnostics to minimize SLA violations. The ETX devices enable agile service deployment to customers in remote locations. This is particularly relevant in French Polynesia, which is comprised of more than 100 islands spread out over an expanse of more than 2,000 kilometers (1,200 mi).

ETX units are used to connect OPT’s network to cellular base stations owned by Vini, French Polynesia’s main mobile service provider, and also serve as leased-line customer site demarcation devices.

The SAA solution deployed also incorporates the RADview™ performance monitoring portal, which provides real-time monitoring of service performance by collecting key performance indicators (KPI) data from RAD devices. RADview immediately detects service degradation so that remedial actions can be taken before the end user is affected.

OPT also contracted RAD for RADcare™ Project Assured Service, which covered network design, configuration and testing by RAD experts to ensure ideal turn-up.
